I'm Aiden Hawkins. Over the past year, I've single-handedly developed BullTrackers.com to provide unique insights into the behavior, trades, actions, and specific metrics of millions of eToro accounts.
My motivation stemmed from a frustration with the lack of accessible, affordable data for retail investors. It's incredibly challenging to find near real-time market metrics on what others are doing, especially with granular breakdowns. Most platforms offering such data charge upwards of $10,000 a month.
BullTrackers doesn't charge even 0.2% of that. As I write this, the site is entirely free, operating at a significant net loss, funded by donations and my own savings. My goal is to empower retail traders with data that was previously out of reach.
BullTrackers.com is incredibly complex. The backend is fueled by a distributed set of servers spanning 35 countries and 53 different data centers. This robust infrastructure processes data from 12 million public eToro users in real-time, 24/7, including every Popular Investor and every public account.
The backend consists of hundreds of computers running a customized program, and I am charged for every minute they operate.
All computed values are streamed to an SQL database, which currently holds over 450 million rows in just one of its 8 custom tables. Each day, users' data is compared against their previous day's data, allowing for day-to-day comparisons both individually and globally. This offers a unique, granular insight into the daily actions of a diverse set of traders and investors across various assets and sectors.
From the processed user data, the system can automatically identify and compute metrics such as:
- Risk scores
- Portfolio holdings
- Closed positions
- Estimate deposit dates and % amounts
- Identify leverage usage
- Warn for risk behaviour in PIs
- And literally over 800 other metrics
